Located in the Doornfontein suburb of Johannesburg, Johannesburg Stadium is a multi-purpose sports facility with a rich history in South African athletics. Originally designed as an athletics stadium, it features a sweeping roof and a seating capacity of 37,500, making it one of the larger venues in the city. Over the years, Johannesburg Stadium has expanded its role beyond athletics, hosting football and rugby matches, as well as serving as a training ground for the Orlando Pirates and the Golden Lions. The stadium has been the site of major sporting events, including the 1998 IAAF World Cup in Athletics and the 1999 All-Africa Games
