Johannesburg Art Gallery

The Johannesburg Art Gallery (JAG), located in Joubert Park, is one of Africa’s most significant art institutions, housing a collection of over 10,000 artworks. Established in 1915, the gallery showcases 17th-century Dutch paintings, 18th- and 19th-century European and British art, as well as an extensive collection of South African works, including pieces by Gerard Sekoto, Pierneef and Alexis Preller. JAG also hosts rotating exhibitions featuring contemporary local and international artists, making it a cornerstone of Johannesburg’s cultural landscape.
