Johannesburg, South Africa – March 18, 2024 – Joburg Tourism is proud to announce its participation in celebrating Human Rights Day in Johannesburg, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of South Africa’s democracy. From March 21st to March 24th, the city will come alive with a myriad of sporting and lifestyle events, reflecting the spirit of unity and progress.

The festivities kick include a variety of public sector and private events like the SuperSized Bar Night at Katy’s Palace Bar, the Incredible India Shopping Festival and the exhilarating Human Rights Day Trail Run in Midrand, as well as the Adreach Alex Day Race, drawing participants from all walks of life. Additionally, Joburg Tourism will be actively engaged in the Human Rights Day Festival at Constitution Hill, underscoring its commitment to promoting local talent and entrepreneurship.

Johannesburg, with its rich heritage deeply intertwined with the struggle for democracy, serves as the perfect backdrop for such celebrations. From historic sites like Liliesleaf Farm to the iconic Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct, the city resonates with the echoes of past struggles and triumphs.

The Constitution Hill Human Rights Festival, now in its sixth edition, promises an enriching experience for attendees. From activism and dialogue to art, culture, and live music, the festival encapsulates the essence of human rights advocacy. Free to the public, the festival invites all to engage in meaningful conversations around equality, dignity, freedom, and justice.

Joburg Tourism’s collaboration with Constitution Hill extends to supporting ten arts and crafts SMMEs at the Maker’s Market, providing them with a platform to showcase their talent and creativity. This initiative underscores Joburg Tourism’s dedication to fostering local economic growth and cultural exchange.
